Curriculum Topic: Group Activity, Student Demonstration, Virtual Friendly
Activity Type: Healthy Birth Practice 1, Anatomy, Pregnancy
Time Needed: 10 minutes (Brainstorming)
Supplies: Flip Chart and Markers
Instructions:
Divide the class into pregnant people and support people. Ask them to discuss these questions and record answers on the chart:
How have you changed during this pregnancy?
How has your partner changed during this pregnancy?
Allow about 5-10 minutes for brainstorming, then ask each group to report back to the class.
Set-Up:
Set up flip charts
Talking Points:
Make your own notes to ensure that all the important points you wish to make are covered in your discussion when the groups rejoin, such as mood swings, fatigue, sex, hormones, body image, “couvade syndrome,” excitement, and fears.
Modifications:
A class composed entirely of male/female couples, divide the class into male and female small groups. (If your class has a different make-up, this may not be an appropriate activity.) Give each group a flip chart and markers.
